The Castle
Camelot Kids and Little Knights is a beautiful eco-friendly 24,000 square feet campus in the heart of Silverlake community in Los Angeles, CA. We proudly serve families from Silverlake, Los Feliz, Atwater Village, Echo Park and border communities.
This historic building site of the iconic Recycler Paper back in the 80s was thoughtfully updated to expand the preschool and toddler rooms and play areas with a modern design: classrooms are designed by age and color, complete with environmentally sustainable bamboo floors, chalk board walls, dramatic play areas and Smartboards for the older kiddos.
Our campus is over a half of an acre and contains distinct playground & outdoor spaces, a studio space for creative movement, enrichment classes, sand castle, a chicken coop, a turtle habitat, several bird cages, a guinea pig habitat, large size pergola lunch area, art area, astro turf landscaping, custom bike track, multi level play structures, a 27 parking space lot and a custom one of a kind tree house with a tower that invites a child’s sense of wonder.

Camelot Critters
Our critters make Camelot a very special place! They bring a lively presence to an already colorful campus. Plus, they add a feeling of comfort and connection for children and parents as well.
Often teachers will direct attention to caring for the critters, or as a transition support when saying bye to mama and papa is difficult.
Paco the parrot greets our families each morning, and the children say good day to the chickens, the bunnies, the lizard, the finches and the guinea pigs each night!
Paco is a Sun Conure and joined Camelot in 2012. He loves to say hello to all of Camelot families each morning at drop off. Paco has become such a regular part of Camelot that he often goes home with families on the weekends.
This beautiful bunny was brought to Camelot after being found on the side of the road in Marina Del Rey. The person that found her had just watched a movie starring Sam Rockwell and named her Sir Rockwell...until we found out she was a Lady!
This rock star bearded dragon was given to Camelot’s Big Dragon classroom in April of 2015. He was hand-raised by his owners after hatching from an egg. His head-bobbing behavior is a fun sight to see, something many children may not get to experience from a pet in their own home.
We are not sure why so many bunnies get left behind in Los Angeles, but when they do, we often get a new family member! Krona (which means currency in Sweden) was found by one of our Camelot families on their back doorstep. Having soft bunnies around helps children learn about using kind hands and gentle touch with animals.
Our chickens teach Camelot kids about life cycles. Children feed the chickens daily, collect fresh eggs which parents can then take home, and the Aqua Dragons walk to Silver Lake Farms once a week to drop off chicken droppings for compost. The children also learn about the worms that inhabit the soil and how heat helps make compost.
Our Zebra Finch family are the most common estrildid finch of Central Australia and breed like crazy here at Camelot. We started with approx 10 and now have too many to count!! A fascinating thing happens when they escape from time to time: they always come back! Their tweeps are a joyful sound throughout the day.
These two sweet guinea pigs came to us in June of 2015, just babies at 6 and 9 months old. As our first Guinea Pigs at Camelot, their cuteness stole the show. The children love holding them, talking to them and watching them grow!
This little guy was a backyard rescue by one of our Camelot families. He used to live in a tank here at Camelot kids, then we built him the coolest habitat to roam in, complete with his very own pond! Taco loves to bask in the sunlights and he often pokes his head out to say “Hi”! He is has company as well: Mr. Foofa and Mr. Turtle.
These cheeky ducks are so fortunate to have landed in the Camelot Kingdom and get to live with the chickens!
Tree House
Our Tree House is the "big kid" privilege of the castle, containing the highest vantage point in all the land.
Our Big Dragons & Aqua Dragons LOVE being able to climb to the top and look over the entire preschool, truly giving them a sense of being the “big kids” they are.
The tree house includes a rock wall to climb, a fire pole to slide down and a foam pit to land in.
Climbing into the Tree House is something every preschool dragon looks forward to as they grow with us here at Camelot Kids.
