The Castle

Camelot Kids Child Development Center is a beautiful eco-friendly building in the heart of Silver Lake and

Los Feliz in Los Angeles, CA.

This historic building was thoughtfully updated with a modern look:  classrooms are designed by age and color, complete with environmentally sustainable bamboo floors.

The facility is a third of an acre and contains outdoor space, a studio space for creative movement, enrichment classes and play structures that invite a child’s sense of wonder. Additionally, Camelot Kids LA is proud to be a Clean Energy business and EPA Green Power Partner, supporting local wind and solar projects through national clean energy provider, Arcadia Power. We are committed to building a brighter future for everyone by using renewable power!

A Sustainable and Green Future

“The Future of the World is in Our Hands”

At Camelot Kids, we know that children hold the key to a sustainable future. For this reason, we have made it part of our mission to teach them about being ecologically conscious from an early age.  We understand that we have the responsibility to expose and educate our children about the health of our community, which includes looking after one another and the greater good of our planet.

Sustainable & Green practices at Camelot Kids:

  • Organic Gardening

  • Composting

  • Recycled Art

  • Bamboo Flooring

  • Eco-friendly Hand Dryers

  • Recycling Program

  • Skylights

  • Reclaimed Building Materials

  • Renewable Power + Clean Energy

Additionally, our building materials were designed to “invite a child’s touch”, be environmentally sound and create a welcoming and warm space.

Camelot Critters

Our critters make Camelot a very special place! They bring a lively presence to an already colorful campus. Plus, they add a feeling of comfort and connection for children and parents as well.

Often teachers will direct attention to caring for the critters, or as a transition support when saying bye to mama and papa is difficult.

Paco the parrot greets our families each morning, and the children say good day to the chickens, the bunnies, the lizard, the finches and the guinea pigs each night!

Paco

Paco is a Sun Conure and joined Camelot in 2012. He loves to say hello to all of Camelot families each morning at drop off. Paco has become such a regular part of Camelot that he often goes home with families on the weekends.

Lady Rockwell
Lady Rockwell

This beautiful bunny was brought to Camelot after being found on the side of the road in Marina Del Rey. The person that found her had just watched a movie starring Sam Rockwell and named her Sir Rockwell...until we found out she was a Lady!

Rocky
Rocky

This rock star bearded dragon was given to Camelot’s Big Dragon classroom in April of 2015. He was hand-raised by his owners after hatching from an egg. His head-bobbing behavior is a fun sight to see, something many children may not get to experience from a pet in their own home.

Krona
Krona

We are not sure why so many bunnies get left behind in Los Angeles, but when they do, we often get a new family member! Krona (which means currency in Sweden) was found by one of our Camelot families on their back doorstep. Having soft bunnies around helps children learn about using kind hands and gentle touch with animals.

Penny, Lucky and Chloe!

Our chickens teach Camelot kids about life cycles. Children feed the chickens daily, collect fresh eggs which parents can then take home, and the Aqua Dragons walk to Silver Lake Farms once a week to drop off chicken droppings for compost. The children also learn about the worms that inhabit the soil and how heat helps make compost.

Zebra Finch Family
Zebra Finch Family

Our Zebra Finch family are the most common estrildid finch of Central Australia and breed like crazy here at Camelot. We started with approx 10 and now have too many to count!! A fascinating thing happens when they escape from time to time: they always come back! Their tweeps are a joyful sound throughout the day.

Soda Pop & Pickles
Soda Pop & Pickles

These two sweet guinea pigs came to us in June of 2015, just babies at 6 and 9 months old. As our first Guinea Pigs at Camelot, their cuteness stole the show. The children love holding them, talking to them and watching them grow!

Taco
Taco

This little guy was a backyard rescue by one of our Camelot families. He used to live in a tank here at Camelot kids, then we built him the coolest habitat to roam in, complete with his very own pond! Taco loves to bask in the sunlights and he often pokes his head out to say “Hi”! He is has company as well: Mr. Foofa and Mr. Turtle.

This big brown bunny was lovingly left to us from The Keatley family when they moved to Sweden in 2013. Her best friends are the chickens, whom she lives with, and loves to burrow and dig holes in their coop! Silly Minty~

Tree House

Our Tree House is the "big kid" privilege of the castle, containing the highest vantage point in all the land.

Our Big Dragons & Aqua Dragons LOVE being able to climb to the top and look over the entire preschool, truly giving them a sense of being the “big kids” they are.

The tree house includes a rock wall to climb, a fire pole to slide down and a foam pit to land in.

Climbing into the Tree House is something every preschool dragon looks forward to as they grow with us here at Camelot Kids.
